Lawyer held for attacking SSI
A lawyer has been booked for reportedly attacking a special sub-inspector (SSI) and tearing his uniform at the Magistrate Court in Egmore on Friday.

The police said that the incident happened when Desingu Raja (51), an SSI attached to the Egmore police station, went to the court to inquire the complaint that said one Vasikaran was attacked by a lawyer at the court premises. “During the interrogation, lawyer Gnanam, against whom the complaint was lodged, picked up an argument with Desingu Raja,” said the police. In the melee, Gnanam attacked the personnel and eventually tore the pocket of the uniform. The other police personnel who were present at the spot intervened. Based on a complaint by the SSI, the Egmore police booked lawyer Gnanam under three sections including preventing a government servant from carrying out his duties and making death threats.
