Gangrape suspects surrender in court
Two men, who were involved in the gangrape of a 15-year-old mentally challenged girl, surrendered at the Kancheepuram Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

They were identified as Deepak (23) and Dinesh (25) from Thirukalimedu. Both of them were autorickshaw drivers. They alleged kidnapped the girl, daughter of a daily wage worker from Chinna Kancheepuram, who was alone at her house on Sunday evening.
The girl’s father, who came home from work, noticed that his daughter was missing and lodged a complaint with the police. After browsing the CCTV footage in the locality, they found that a group of men kidnapped the girl at knifepoint in an autorickshaw fromher house.
Then, the girl was found lying unconscious on near Thirukalimedu village on Monday. When she was taken to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital for treatment, the police were informed that the girl had been gangraped.
On Tuesday morning, the police arrested Deva (25), an autorickshaw driver and Raja (27) under Pocso Act. While they were searching for Deepak and Dinesh, both of them surrendered at the court. They allegedly confessed to raping the girl. Both of them were remanded in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man, who sexually assaulted a girl, was arrested near Annaikaittu on Tuesday. The arrested was identified as Kannappan, a construction worker from a village near Annaikaittu. Kannappan used to stalk the Class 10 girl while she goes to school every day. When she was alone at her house on Tuesday morning, Kannappan entered the house and tried to sexually abuse her. On hearing her cries, the neighbours rushed inside the house, rescued the girl and handed him over to the Annaikaittu police. He was then arrested under the Pocso Act.
