Flying squad seize around Rs 2 cr cash

Election flying squad seized over Rs 2 crore in three separate incidents near Pallavaram and Alandur here on Wednesday.

During a check at night, flying squad at Porur-Kundrathur road near Kovur village in Alandur, seized Rs 1.27 crore cash without any proper documentation. It was claimed that the van was carrying cash to fill ATM machines but, the officials seized the cash and handed over to Alandur treasury.


Election flying squad seized another Rs 76.75 lakh on two incidents near Pallavaram. On Wednesday morning the flying squad seized cash from a van at Old GST Road in Pallavaram. On other incident, officials on a vehicle check at Pallavaram-Kundrathur road on Tuesday night intercepted a scooter rider and found cash bundles accounting to Rs 1.75 lakh, underneath the seat. When officials enquired motorist Ritesh said that he taking the money for issuing salary. The officials handed Ritesh to Shankar Nagar police station who are enquiring.
