Girl jumps from 3rd floor after lover’s death

The police said that T Premnath of Royapuram, who worked as a photographer, and S Ayisha (19) of Kasimedu, who had completed Class 12, were in a relationship for more than two years.

A few days ago, Premnath met Ayisha’s parents and expressed interest to marry their daughter. However, they allegedly rejected his proposal. Following that, he informed Ayisha about the incident and that led to an argument between them. While they decided to part ways, Premnath could not accept the break-up.

On Monday night, Premnath hanged self in his house after sending Ayisha a photo him in the noose. Since Premnath did not come out of the room for long, his father Thesingu, a fisherman, broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. His body was retrieved and sent to Stanley Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Ayisha tried calling him over the phone on seeing the photo but his phone was switched off. On Tuesday morning, she came to know that Premnath committed suicide. Dejected over this, Ayisha jumped from the third floor of her house. She was rushed to Stanley Government Hospital but was declared brought dead. Royapuram and Kasimedu police have registered separate cases of suicide.

The incident of a young couple having committed suicide over parents’ opposition has shocked the residents.
