The arrested person was identified as Syed (35) of Villivakkam. Meanwhile, even as the police were interrogating him to trace the other accused, including Yunus and Umar who remain absconding, Syed’s wife lodged a complaint at Villivakkam station that her husband has gone missing.
Petrol bombs were hurled at the house of Paramasivam, a DMK cadre, in the wee hours of April 12.
The attack came a day after Paramasivam quarrelled with a few functionaries of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which contested the polls in alliance with TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK.
Police said the quarrel was over alleged distribution of cash for vote the previous night. CCTV footage confirmed that the attackers were members of SDPI, following which a hunt was launched to nab them. The main accused remains at large and further inquiry is on, police said.
