Pre-monsoon: Isolated rain to continue across Tamil Nadu

Pre-monsoon showers and thunderstorm activity are gaining pace in the State as several districts including Theni, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Cuddalore and Kanyakumari continue to receive rainfall.

As per Regional Meteorological Centre, several districts including Tiruvallur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Salem, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur and Nilgiris districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall in next 48 hours. On Saturday, Nilgiris received a highest of 10 cm rainfall, while Salem, Krishnagiri and Coimbatore received around 7 cmrainfall each.


The sky condition in the city is to remain cloudy during early morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36 degree Celsius and 29 degree Celsius respectively. On Saturday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum and minimum of 36 degree Celsius and 29.9 degree Celsius respectively. Meanwhile, Meenambakkam recorded a maximum and minimum of 37.4 degree Celsius and 28.6 degree Celsius respectively.


Weather blogger Pradeep John stated that the rains would slightly reduce from Wednesday but would not be widespread. He also said that Chennai might soon receive some rainfall, however, it would take some more days for the low trough effect to reach Chennai.
