Inspector Baskar attached to Royapettah police station, who was on night patrol, received information on bikes speeding on Kamarajar Salai around 12.30 am. Based on the inputs by passers-by, who found the bikes entering Pycroft Road from Kannagi Statue, the police blocked the road with barricades at seven places. “We kept one stretch, which is a dead-end open. As we expected, the bikes entered the stretch to escape police and were trapped,” said the inspector. The youngsters from Padi and Villivakkam were between 14 and 19 years. Their parents were called and fined for violating traffic rules and causing public nuisance, said the police.
