Wife of accused attempts suicide at police station

Ezhilarasan (25) of Narasimha Nagar at Pulianthope, who is an accused in the murder of a senior citizen Radhakrishnan last year, allegedly threatened a shop owner demanding money recently. In this connection, he was taken to the police station for an inquiry on Wednesday. However, within minutes, a group of 30 people, including his kin and lawyers, gathered in front of the station demanding his release.

Meanwhile, Ezhilarasan’s wife Gayathri doused herself in kerosene in a self-immolation attempt. However, alert cops at the station prevented her immolation bid. Later, officials held talks with the agitators, following which the crowd dispersed.
