The deceased, Kavi Amudhan, was arrested by the police last year in connection with a murder case. Kavi Amudhan was an employee of an oil firm in Athipattu.

On Friday morning, he left for work from his house at Chinna Colony in Anupampattu on his motorbike. He was intercepted by a gang near Naalur lake and they attacked him using sharp weapons.

He suffered injuries on the head, hands and legs. The police said that he died on the spot. A police team from the Minjur police station rushed to the scene and shifted the body to a government hospital for post mortem examination. Ponneri Deputy Superintendent of Police visited the crime scene.

The police later said that Kavi Amudhan was involved in the murder of one Vigi in December last year. He was arrested in connection with the murder and was let off on bail recently. “It looks like a revenge murder,” the police said.
