Pregnant woman injured in chain-snatching bid

The woman sustained injuries in the incident, as she fell from the bike and was treated at a private hospital. Police said the couple, Rajkumar (32) and Kausalya (28) of Meppur near Nazarethpet in Poonamallee, were returning home when two men on a bike intercepted their bike. One of them snatched gold chain that Kausalya was wearing and they sped away from the spot. Based on Kausalya’s complaint, Nazarethpet police have registered a case and are searching for the suspects with the help of the CCTV camera footage.

Meanwhile, Nolambur police have arrested two men for allegedly snatching a four sovereign chain from a woman. The victim, Sumathi (34) of Pachaiyappa Nagar, lost the jewel to a duo recently when she was returning home. Based on her complaint, Nolambur police launched a hunt for the suspects. On Sunday night, the police secured two men on suspicion near the service road. During investigation, they admitted to have snatched Sumathi’s chain. Three sovereigns were seized from the men, who were remanded in custody.
