Three, including 8-year-old girl, killed in road accidents
Three people, including an 8-year-old girl, were killed in three road accidents in southern suburbs of Chennai on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Murali (30), Kanaiyan (70) from Somangalam and Nalini (8) from Uthiramerur.
In the first accident, Murali was traveling on his two-wheeler towards Selaiyur when he tried to overtake a container lorry. His vehicle skidded in the process and Murali came under the wheels of the lorry and died on the spot. The Chromepet Traffic investigation police sent the body for post-mortem examination to Chromepet Government Hospital. The police are searching for the lorry driver who went missing.
In the second case, Kanaiyan from Somangalam, a farmer, came to Irumbiliyur for personal works and the accident occurred when he was walking towards a bus stop after buying vegetables. The police said that an SECT bus rammed Kanaiyan from behind and he died on the spot. The Chromepet traffic police sent the body for autopsy to the GH.
In the last accident, Nalini from Anumenthandalam village was returning home from her friend’s house when she was hit by a speeding lorry. The driver escaped from the spot and villagers who gathered there blocked the road seeking action against over-speeding drivers. The Peru Nagar police sent the body for post-mortem examination to the GH and promised the protestors to take action.
