The three arrested from Chennai on Sunday were identified as Nishanthan, Hariharan and Surdendran, police sources said.
On Saturday, officials from the Q Branch arrested 13 people, including five Lankans and a woman, in Trichy in connection with a statewide fake passport racket. Kalaiselvi (48), who is believed to be the head of operation, helped the Sri Lankan nationals to get fake Indian passports.
Several documents, more than 250 duplicate seals, hard drives and mobile phones were seized from the gang by the Q Branch sleuths. The police noted that the arrested Sri Lankans received the fake passports from a gang, which is spread across districts such as Chennai, Tiruchy, Ramanathapuram and Coimbatore.
