10 days after bag goes missing, two held for stealing it
Nearly 10 days after a woman dropped her bag containing cash and 19 sovereigns on the road in Chintadripet, the police have arrested two men and seized the valuables from them. S Sripriya (49) of Meeran Sahib Street had gone to Tiruttani on May 4 and returned on the same evening.

She hired an autorickshaw from Chennai Central to go home. However, when she reached home, Sripriya realised that her bag with Rs 1,500 in cash and jewels was missing. After she lodged a complaint at Chintadripet police station, a special team was formed to nab the suspects and CCTV footage from the locality were combed.
In the video, police found a lorry driver picking up the bag that was lying in the middle of the road. Using the registration number of the lorry, police traced the driver and secured him. Apart from the driver, identified as P Parthasarathy (34) of Korukkupet, his help A Kalaiselvan (49) of Vyasarpadi has also been held. The stolen valuables were retrieved from the duo, who were remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
