Man beats dog to death, arrested in Washermanpet

The man was identified as Kumar alias Olli Kumar of Moolakothalam. Recently, he mercilessly attacked a dog and tied its leg with a rope and dragged it in the middle of the road before dumping it in the Cooum river where the dog died.

After the video of the incident went viral two days ago, members of Almighty Animal Care Trust lodged a complaint at Washermanpet police station along with evidence. A probe was initiated and Kumar was secured from his house. Investigation revealed that that the dog had bitten his father and when he tried to chase the animal away, it allegedly tried to bite him as well. Infuriated over this, he attacked the dog and dragged it to Cooum river.

He was booked under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and produced before the magistrate at George Town, who remanded him in custody.
