People in the State can now raise their complaints pertaining to water wastage, broken pipelines and seepage to Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) as the board has formed a team and introduced a phone number.

The field level officials have been asked to send their inspection plan and action-taken report to the head office every day. “TWAD has water testing labs at all the districts and the public can check the quality of water,” the released added.

Pointing out the failure of monsoon, Maheshwaran implored the residents to use the water judiciously. “The board is also providing technical support to residents to set up rainwater harvesting facilities.”

Even though there is infrastructure to supply 2,146 million litres of water across the State, owing to the failed monsoon, the board is supplying around 1,856 million litres of water every day. The board also assist rural local bodies in digging borewells to tap groundwater. It claims that it is supplying drinking water to around 4.23 crore people.
