Murder thwarted as cops arrest six

On a tip off, a team of police personnel raided a house at Karnesan Street and secured six men on suspicion for further investigation. After they gave contradictory replies to their questions, police searched the house again and seized six machetes.

They were identified as R Prabakaran (28) alias Praba, R Kathiravan (36), K Rajesh (19), and S Vignesh (19) of Korukkupet, R Ajith (19) and V Akash (19)of Tondiarpet.

Investigation revealed that they were hiding in the locality with an intent to murder a man over previous enmity. All six were produced before the magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Among the six, Prabakaran has two attempted murder charges against him, said police. Previously, three men - Bharath, Vignesh and Balaji - were also arrested in connection with the same case on May 13.
