More than 100 villages that depend on the Ponneri sub-station for power supply are affected owing to such frequent power cuts. Locals in Minjur said the frequent power cuts have become the order of the day, making life difficult during both day and night. According to them, water shortage was the biggest issue across Tiruvallur. Now, the frequent unannounced power cuts have only added to their owes. They further noted that even drawing drinking water using mini motors in many households has become a problem owing tofrequent power cuts.
But with no response coming from the officials despite several complaints, the residents gathered in front of Tangedco office at Ponneri seeking a solution to their troubles immediately. The villagers dispersed following assurance from Ponneri police that they would take up the issue with the power officials.
