Four more held in temple EO assault case in Ponneri

Four more persons were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the assault on an Executive Officer of a temple in Ponneri on Friday last, police said.

The victim Srinivasan (27), the executive officer of the Pushpatheshwarar temple, was returning on his two-wheeler with his colleague through Nemelicherry-Minjur road on Friday last, when a gang intercepted and attacked them with knives and other sharp objects. The duo, who suffered serious injuries, were rushed to a private hospital by locals. Following the attack, Sholavaram police registered a case and arrested Dhananchezian, Dhanasekar, Venkatesan and Dinesh in connection with the case. Interrogations with the arrested quarter revealed that some more men also had a role in the attack, a police official said. Following the leads given by the quartet, police arrested Satish (26) and Kirubakaran (20) and during inquiries they revealed the names of Simbu (20), Gokul (21), Vinoth (21) and Ramesh (32), who were all arrested and remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
