Tasmac renter self-immolates in front of DSP office

While in his last moments he gave a dying declaration to Magistrate Gayathridevi.

One, Nellaiappan, a native of Tirunelveli and a resident of Thiruporur, was running Tasmac outlets across the outskirts of Chennai, rented from an AIADMK functionary named Anandan, who as rent received as much as Rs 19 crores in the period of seven years. The former also had to bribe an Inspector and police officer Rs one and one and half lakh per month respectively, to prevent shutting his bar down. 

Nellaiappan went to the DSP office not with these complaints but a can of kerosene to set himself ablaze. He was immediately taken to the Chengalpattu Government hospital but he was declared dead.

While in his last moments he gave a dying declaration to Magistrate Gayathridevi. It is with this bearing the case has been filed. 

The day before his immolation, that is, on Monday he had posted a video on Facebook. He was visibly depressed being affronted by his bothersome owner and the venal police officers. These officers will face departmental actions, said Kancheepuram Superintendent Santhosh Hadimani.

The 37-year-old Nellaiappan is survived by his wife Sumathi, a girl child and a month old infant boy.
