Missing boy’s body found in Kanchi

The police said that Naveen recently wrote Class 10 exams and failed in a few subjects when the results came. On Tuesday evening, Naveen told his parents that he was going out to play cricket with friends. When he did not return even after a long time, his parents started searching for him. But they could not locate Naveen.

On Wednesday, villagers noticed a boy lying dead with injuries on his head on Vellai lake bed in Kancheepuram and informed the Siva Kanchi police. The police, who visited the spot, identified Naveen and retrieved the body to send it for autopsy to Kancheepuram Government Hospital. The police suspect that he might have been killed by his friends whom he played cricket with as they have also been missing from Tuesday. SP Santosh Hadimani said that the police have identified four suspects, all aged below 20. “They might be the ones with whom Naveen went to play. But that can be confirmed only after we secure them,” he said.
