The victim, S Prasath who runs a gold smithy in West Mogappair, met Shankar from Tiruverkadu through his father-in-law a few months ago. Shankar introduced himself as a Swiggy agent and allegedly told him that he can rent bikes and mobile phones to make a living instead of spending hours together in the smithy.

Believing him, Prasath bought three two-wheelers and six mobile phones on loan and gave it to Shankar. He also gave another Pulsar bike that belonged to his father-in-law. Shankar told Prasath that it would take two months to complete the procedure, but assured that he would get up to Rs 1 lakh per month from Swiggy.

However, when he did not receive any money as promised, Prasath confronted Shankar but was allegedly threatened by him. Prasath alleged that Shankar has sold the bikes to another person to use them for illegal activities. He has sought the arrest of Shankar and retrieval of his valuables.
