They were identified as Prem Kumar (36) and Sudan Raj (28) from Perungalathur, from whom the bike and the gold chain were recovered.

The incident happened on Tuesday while the victim, Prabharakan from Pallavaram, a private company employee, was returning to Pallavaram after visiting Vandalur.

When nearing Irumbuliyur on the GST road, two men who were standing near an auto asked Prabhakaran for a lift. According to police, they convinced Prabhakaran that their auto had a break down and requested him to drop them in Tambaram. Prabhakaran agreed to drop them in Tambaram on his two-wheeler.

But when nearing the Tambaram flyover, they attacked Prabhakaran and escaped with his 1.5 sovereign gold chain and bike. He filed a complaint at the Tambaram police station. After browsing the CCTV footage from the locality, police identified Prem Kumar and Sudan Raj. On Thursday evening, police arrested both of them from Perungalathur and recovered the chain and the bike from them. They were remanded in judicial custody, and further inquiries are on.
