While the traffic police personnel will have the application on their mobile phones, the public can download the application called ‘GCTP Citizen Services’. The public can click photographs or take videos of a traffic offence. The video will automatically reach the officers with details such as date and time of the video taken and they can identify the exact spot using GPS.
The public can also raise traffic related grievances and give suggestions through the app and it would be forwarded to the officers concerned. They also check if any action was taken on the app.
Motorists can also check the status of their e-challans on the app. “The registration number of the vehicle has to be entered to check if they have any pending challans and the app also has a facility to pay the fine online. If somebody is buying a used vehicle, they can easily check if the vehicle was involved in any traffic offence,” an official said.
