Trio evades chase by 3 patrol teams after robbing man, two minors nabbed
After three bike-borne juveniles robbed Rs 500 from a man and evaded chase by three different patrol teams, two of them were arrested in the zero hours of Wednesday.

While one of them, a 15-year-old, managed to escape, two others were sent to an observation home. A special sub-inspector attached to Pulianthope police station suffered injuries in the bid to secure them near Broadway bus stand. It all started around 12.30 am on Wednesday when the victim, A Gulfarn Sheriff (21) of Otteri, a two-wheeler mechanic, was talking to a transperson on Beach Road. The three-member gang on a bike threatened him and snatched his wrist watch and Rs 500. When they tried take away his phone, Gulfarn rushed to a police patrol vehicle on Flag Staff Road and informed the police personnel from Flower Bazaar station. As the trio had left the spot by then, the police altered other officers on patrol.
Following this, patrol vehicle from Flower Bazaar police station chased them up to the Veterinary college, but in vain. However, they noticed the trio again a few minutes later near Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and chased them.
But the trio escaped to Broadway bus stand, where Pulianthope police personnel were on night patrol. SSI Gnanasundaram and Armed Reserve personnel Veeramani tried to stop them, but the trio rammed their vehicle on a barricade, which fell on the SSI. Subsequently, they dropped the vehicle and ran in different directions. Finally, the North Beach police personnel secured two of them. According to sources, the trio kept police teams on their toes for two hours. A hunt has been launched for the absconding minor.
