World Meteorological Organization recognized the Regional Meteorological Centre in Nungambakkam

Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre in Nungambakkam is recognized by World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on Wednesday for its impeccable work spanning more than 100 years.

“Years of recording and publishing of meteorological information that will benefit current and future generations is part of the cultural and scientific behaviour of mankind. Continuous observation and recording of meteorological data serve as evidence to climate change science and climate-related services. Recognizing and certifying our centre based on specific criteria encourages our practice of recording long time meteorological data,” said Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre.

“Our research and review on Astronomy-related topics is one of the reasons to get this recognition. This is a huge recognition to our centre. We will continue our service to people amidst all the challenges that surrounds in deriving meteorological data,” said Puviyarasan, the Director of Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre.
