In Chennai, the police and Revenue officials searched ‘Maatu’ Sekar’s house in Anna Nagar on Thursday night based on a tip off from his wife. There, they found a pistol, three bullets and two machetes, and are now looking for Sekar, who is absconding.

Anuradha, an advocate, lodged a complaint at Anna Nagar police station on Wednesday stating that she was attacked by Sekar, whom she had married in 2006. As he was leading a reformed life, his name was removed from the criminal record. But she informed police that he was in possession of arms.

The police registered a case and launched a hunt for him. They then conducted a search at his home, during which the weapons were found.

Police said they would obtain more information about weapons, including the gun, after nabbing him.

In the second incident, which was reported in Gumudipoondi in Tiruvallur, a landlord handed over a revolver to the police after finding it in the house that he had rented out to a man from Uttar Pradesh.

As the tenant failed return from UP after three months, he opened the house and found the gun. It was handed over to the policeon Thursday.
