3.2 kg gold, laptops seized from 10 passengers at Chennai airport
Customs officials at the city airport on Sunday seized 3.2 kg gold estimated to be worth over Rs 1.

16 crore, used laptops and cigarettes from as many as 10 passengers. Abdul Latheef (30) and Mohammed Sherif (32), who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, were intercepted by the officials on suspicion. Upon searching, the duo was found to be concealing about 703 grams of gold in their undergarment. It was subsequently seized, besides 21 laptops and imported energy products which were found to be in their possession. Similarly, Customs officials checked the belongings of five people who arrived from Dubai and three others who arrived at the airport from Colombo, upon suspicion. About 2.5 kg of gold estimated to be worth Rs 91 lakh and foreign cigarettes worth Rs 9 lakh were seized from them. Mobile phones and laptops were also seized from them. All the ten people have been detained for further investigation.
