MBBS counselling under management quota begins

The counselling to MBBS course for admission to medical colleges in the State under management quota commenced on Monday.

The selection committee under the Directorate of Medical Education allotted 103 seats to the candidates on the first day.

This year, 29,007 applications were submitted to the selection committee under the management quota, of which 25,651 applications were accepted. On day one, students who scored between 685 and 445 in NEET were called for counselling.


Most of the general category candidates with a NEET score of more than 600 were allotted seats at CMC Vellore. The general, SC, SC-Arunthathiyar and ST seats in CMC Vellore were filled up on the first day itself. Thirty medical seats at both PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and KMCH Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Coimbatore were also filled up during the day.


In all, 3,205 students were called for counselling, of which 266 students attended while 2,939 were absent. Officials said 164 students remain in the waitlist, while 376 seats were vacant after the management quota counselling on the first day.


The committee has announced the extension of the first phase of BDS counselling for government quota seats in self-financing colleges. This will be held on Wednesday and Thursday for all communities, while it will be conducted for SC, SCA, ST and BCM on Friday.
