DVAC raids in 12 districts, Rs 8.5L seized

Sleuths from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seized Rs 8.5 lakh unaccounted cash from 12 sub-registrar offices across the State on Monday.

The cash was seized during raids carried out at offices in Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Namakkal, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, The Nilgiris, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Madurai, Thoothukudi and Tiruchy.


While Rs 1,25,600 was seized from Gingee in Villupuram district, it was Rs 43,000 from Chidambaram in Cuddalore district. The team unearthed Rs 1,12,500 from Tiruvannamalai, Rs 40,870 from Namakkal and Rs 79,600 from Gandhipuram in Coimbatore. The search in Avinasi and Tiruppur resulted in the seizure of cash totalling to Rs 35,940.


The raiding team which went to Coonoor in The Nilgiris seized Rs 24,300 and Rs 47,300 from Keezhapazhauvur in Ariyalaur. From the sub-registrar office in Veppanthattai in Perambalur, the sleuths recovered Rs 1,12,700, Rs 27,120 from Chekkanoorani in Madurai.


While Rs 79,490 unaccounted cash was recovered from Pudukottai, Rs 1,22,400 was seized from Uraiyur in Tiruchy.
