K Selvam alias Varichiyur Selvam is a history-sheeter from Madurai, who is facing several cases at police stations across the State. He had recently surrendered to the Madurai police, promising to lead a reformed life, besides starting to work in the film field.
When news spread on social media that the gangster and friends offered prayers at Varadarajar Perumal temple using VVIP ticket, it triggered a controversy. Official suspected that the group could have been using fake tickets.
Following this, Collector Ponnaiah and IG Nagarajan checked all VVIP tickets using the bar code scanner. During the drive, one person was found carrying a photocopied ticket and was arrested. Police said seven persons have been caught using duplicate VVIP tickets so far, adding that it was not possible to scan every ticket due to the heavy crowd.
