The accused were identified as Janardhana Reddy, also a businessman, his friend Rajesh, lawyer Thamizharasu and history-sheeter Gopi. The police said that there was a rivalry between Janardhana Reddy and Sridhar Reddy over their power at Andhra Club in the city.
Janardhana Reddy, who wanted to eliminate Sridhar, sought the help of Rajesh and Thamizharasu, who sent a three-member gang led by Gopi. They attacked Sridhar Reddy outside the Andhra Club on July 6. Based on his complaint, the Teynampet police registered a case and secured Gopi.
Based on his inputs, the other three were arrested by a special team led by DC Ashok Kumar, inspector Ramesh and sub-inspector Thirumal.
