Rs 29L looted at Maduravoyal
Unidentified burglars broke into a house at Aandal Nagar in Alapakkam near Maduravoyal and decamped with Rs 29 lakh in cash.

The victim was identified as Sathya Narayanan, who runs a private security agency. He went to a relative’s wedding in Thanjavur and returned on Tuesday morning. He found the house door broken open and Rs 29 lakh kept there missing. Based on his complaint, fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were also pressed into service. The police have recovered the CCTV footage from the locality to identify the burglars.
Meanwhile, the Koyambedu police cracked a burglary case reported in Nerkundram and arrested the victim’s neighbour, Kalayarasi (24), from whom they recovered the stolen 16 sovereigns. Sankaran, a building contractor, lodged a complaint on Monday his house at Saraswathy Colony in Nerkundram was burgled. He had gone to Courtallam with his family on Friday and returned home on Monday. The police questioned the neighbours, during which Kalayarasi admitted that she entered the house through the gate on the backside and stole the jewels. She was remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday.
