According to the Marina police, she was a second-year teacher training student at Lady Willingdon School and stayed in the institution’s hostel on Kamarajar Salai.

As usual, the girl went to brush her teeth before going to sleep on Friday night. But as there was no power at that time, she mistakenly used rat poison that was kept there instead of toothpaste.

As it tasted different, she used her mobile phone torch to check and found out that it was rat poison. She alerted other inmates about it, who rushed her to the nearby hospital for treatment. She was admitted for a night-long observation and discharged on Saturday morning. Police said that she was fine, and no case was registered.
