Brain dead patient’s organs donated to 4 hospitals

In a Samaritan move, the various organs of a brain-dead patient were donated to four hospitals on Wednesday.

Sources revealed that Sauranil Ghose (19) of West Bengal, second year engineering student in a private college in Vellore, lost his life in a two-wheeler accident near Ambur on August 3.


He was immediately rushed to the Vellore CMC hospital where the doctors declared him brain dead on Wednesday.


Following this, his father Santosh Ghose permitted the organs of his son to be harvested. Following the approval, Sauranil eyes and one kidney were donated to the CMC hospital, the other kidney was donated to the Madras Medical College and Hospital. His heart was donated to the Chennai based Fortis hospital and his liver was donated to the Chennai Apollo.
