The RK Nagar police have arrested two men, who were part of the gang that hacked him in Kasimedu over business rivalry. The accused were identified as Kutty Prakash and Bokkai Karthik and a hunt has been launched for two more suspects.

The victim is an associate of a man identified as Sekar. “Sekar and the main accused, Prakash, were in the business of providing sound systems for events in and around RK Nagar. There was an ongoing rivalry between them,” the police said.

Recently, three associates of Sekar, including Perumal, were arrested by the New Washermenpet police in connection with an alleged attack on Kutty Prakash. After the trio, who were arrested under attempt to murder, was released from the prison recently, Kutty Prakash hatched a plan to eliminate them.

On Sunday, Prakash and his three friends invited Perumal for a liquor party and took him on a bike to Kasimedu fishing harbour. After consuming liquor together, they hacked him with machetes.

However, Perumal, who suffered injuries on his head, escaped from them and ran into the sea. He managed to swim for a distance and entered the Chennai port. Security guards at the port secured him and admitted to the hospital.

On information, the RK Nagar police registered a case and arrested Kutty Prakash and Bokkai Karthik. They were remanded in judicial custody on Monday. A hunt has been launched for two more suspects.
