Valuables worth Rs 33 L seized at airport

Customs officials seized gold, beauty enhancement drugs, iPhones, Apple watches and Intel processors worth Rs 33.7 lakh at Chennai airport.

While checking the passengers who reached here from Bangkok, Customs officials intercepted Murali Krishnaswamy (59) of Chennai. In his checked-in luggage, officials found beauty enhancement drugs, including five boxes of Placents Luchini fresh cell therapy injections, 50 boxes of Supreme Gluta White tablets, 28 boxes Glutex 5GS microcellular ultra-whitening kit and 24 boxes of mixing white platinum antioxidant DNA repair and 10 boxes of Chronol 500mg Disulfiram tablets, with a total value of Rs 5 lakh. As the passenger did not have invoice and certificate issued by Drug Controller, the goods were seized.


In another case, Imran Khan (23) of Chennai, who arrived from Dubai, was intercepted at the exit. In his baggage, officials found 8 apple watches-series, 620 Intel i3 processors, 3 Samsung Gear watches, 4 iPhone XS, valued Rs 13.15 lakh. The goods were seized and the man was detained.


In the third case, Customs officials intercepted Mohamed Ibrahim (33) who arrived from Singapore on suspicion of carrying gold. During questioning, Ibrahim admitted to have concealed gold in the form of a rubbery spread inside his rectum. The gold weighing about 404 grams worth Rs 15.61 lakh was extracted, and Ibrahim was detained.
