Cops express resentment on social media, seek action against Collector

A couple of social activists also planned to approach the State Human Rights Commission saying that inspector Ramesh from Tiruvallur district, who was at the receiving end from the Collector, was harassed and prevented from doing his duty by the IAS officer. “Inspector Ramesh, who was on bandobust duty, was abused and threatened by the district Collector,” a social activist said, while another activist demanded that a case should be registered against the Collector.

The Collector’s reaction came after the inspector reportedly allowed people without passes in the VIP queue on Friday night to have the darshan of Athi Varadhar in Devarajaswami temple.

A retired SP termed the public outburst of the Collector as unfortunate, uncivilised and unprecedented. “Better have discussion with other existing retired officer’s associations to highlight this indecent behaviour through all channels,” the retired official added while another officer noted that he was exploring the options to file an PIL in the high court on the issue.
