Chennai trade centre to be expanded at Rs 255 cr

State Minister for Major Industries, M C Sampath, on Tuesday, announced that state government had allotted Rs 255 crore for the expansion of Chennai Trade Centre at Nandambakkam.

“The expansion will happen at a total area of 9.13 acres where new halls and auditoriums will be constructed in an area of 20,322 square metres. Permission for the construction of multilevel parking facility and utility buildings have already been obtained from the central government”, said Sampath after launching a new website for Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation, at the Chennai Trade Centre.


According to the new website, whenever an expo was conducted in Chennai Trade Centre companies could book stalls online along with remitting the fee. Under the new facility, the companies need not visit the authorities to book the stalls, the Minister said.


He also said that the expansion process was at the level of awarding contract and government wanted to complete the work by March 2021.
