11 held for making fake passes for Athi Varadhar fest
The Vishnu Kanchi police on Monday arrested 11 people for printing and selling VIP and VVIP passes to gain easy entry during the Athi Varadhar fest at Sri Devarajaswami temple in Kancheepuram, which concluded on Saturday.

Those arrested have been identified as Senthil (34), the district students wing secretary of AMMK, Ramesh (32), Abdul Kadhar (38), Babu (37), Nowsath (33), Ashok (34), Kalivaradan (42), Danasekar (32), Bilal (32), Bilal (31) and Zakrudeen (28), all from Kancheepuram. A number of fake unused passes were seized from them. All of them were remanded in judicial custody and sent to prison.
During the 47-day darshan period, the personnel deployed there found that many devotees had attempted to use duplicate passes to enter the separate lane for VIP and VVIP that the district administration had set up.
According to the police, most of the people who were caught with fake passes were not aware of its authenticity, and had paid money to agents to for it. The Vishnu Kanchi police filed an FIR against nine people who had tried to enter the temple using fake passes, but many of them were let off with a warning.
