This is the second time Shanthi Subbiah (55), a resident of Raja Annamalai Puram, is lodging similar complaint with the police. Last September, she had lodged a complaint with the police after receiving a threat call.
Shanthi is also the mother-in-law of IPS officer DIG V Balakrishnan.
“She had been receiving such calls on a regular basis. These calls come during nights. Sometimes they are just blank calls. She is depressed because of the calls, even as her husband’s murder case is going on in the court,” a member of her family said. She received a series of threat calls, some of them internet based, on August 20 night.
Following this, she has asked the police to take appropriate action and also provide protection for her.
It may be recalled that Dr Subbiah was murdered in connection with a dispute over property in his native, and the police had made series of arrests.
