NIB officials received a tip-off that drugs were being sold in bars at star hotels on weekends and a special team led by DSP D Purushothaman, inspector Selvin and sub-inspector Karthik went to the pub to nab the drug sellers. NIBCID sources said that SI Karthik went to the bar in plainclothes, posed like a prospective customer and asked about the drugs.

As they expected, two youngsters approached him to sell the contraband and the NIB team nabbed them and took them for inquiry. The two were identified as Raja Anand (27) and Hariharan (28).

A total of 10 MDMA tablets and two LSD stamps, worth nearly Rs 1 lakh, were seized from them.

During investigation, the duo said that the drugs were procured from Goa and added they were into the business for the last few months due to increasing demand for such drugs in the city. The officer said that they targeted couples and girls.
