Around 3.30 am on Wednesday, the security officials who were monitoring the CCTV surveillance noticed the youth climbing the compound wall near the fifth gate of the old airport. Sources said this gate was used only by VVIPs.
The officials alerted CISF personnel. When they rushed to the spot, the personnel found S Shahid from Andhra Pradesh sitting on the top of the wall. Spotting them, he jumped to the other side, and started to run away from the spot. But Shahid was intercepted at gunpoint.
During the inquiry, he did not corporate, said sources. Instead of replying to the questions, he merely repeated the questions. When they checked the CCTV footages, the officials found that Shahid has been roaming outside the airport for the past one week.
The CISF personnel, along with bomb disposal squad, thoroughly checked the premises to ensure that there were no explosives planted near the airport. At around 7 am, Shahid was handed over to the Airport police, who detained him and have also informed the AP police.
