Inspector, daughter hurt as car hits two-wheeler
A woman inspector attached to the Economic Offences Wing and her six-year-old daughter sustained injuries after a four-wheeler brushed against their bike on EVR Salai on Tuesday night.

The incident happened around 8.30 pm near the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation when inspector Sasikala and her daughter were returning to their home in Kilpauk police quarters after shopping. A speeding car brushed against their two-wheeler and fled the spot. In the impact, Sasikala lost balance of the vehicle and both of them fell on the road.
They were rescued by passers-by and admitted to a nearby private hospital. Both suffered bruises on their hands, said sources. Anna Square Traffic investigation police have registered a case and are going through the CCTV footage to find out the car registration number.
Senior citizen run over on Kamarajar Salai
A senior citizen was run over by an unidentified vehicle on Kamarajar Salai near Marina beach on Tuesday evening. The deceased, identified as Rajarathinam (62) of Royapuram, sold pencils near the beach for a living, said the police.
The accident happened at 7.35 pm when he tried to cross Kamarajar Salai while returning home. An unidentified vehicle ran him over and escaped from the scene. Rajarathinam died on the spot. The Anna Square Traffic Investigation police sent his body to Omandurar Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and a police team is checking the CCTV footage to trace the vehicle.
