Maintenance work to hit MRTS service on weekend

MRTS service between Beach and Velachery stations would be disrupted for six hours on Sunday, owing to track maintenance work from 7.50 am.

A statement issued by Southern Railway (SR) said that eighteen pairs of EMU services between Chennai Beach and Velachery would be cancelled. Chennai Beach to Velachery Trains leaving Chennai Beach at 8 am, 8.20 am, 8.40 am, 9 am, 9.20 am, 9.40 am, 10 am, 10.20 am, 10.40 am, 11 am, 11.20 am, 11.40 am, 12 noon, 12.20 pm, 12.40 pm, 1 pm, 1.20 pm and 1.40 pm would be cancelled. The first Chennai Beach – Velachery EMU after the block will leave Beach at 2 pm.

Similarly, EMUs starting from Velachery to Chennai Beach at 8.10 am, 8.30 am, 8.50 am, 9.10 am, 9.30 am, 9.50 am, 10.10 am, 10.30 am, 10.50 am, 11.10 am, 11.30 am, 11.50 am, 12.10 pm, 12.30 pm, 12.50 pm, 1.10 pm, 1.30 pm and 1.50 pm would be cancelled. The first train after the block will leave Velachery at 2.10 pm.Meanwhile, a few EMU services between Gummidipundi and Beach would be diverted, owing to track maintenance work at Chennai Beach Yard from September 7 to 8.

Gummudipundi – Chennai Beach leaving Gummudipundi at 9.45 pm on September 7 will be diverted to MMC, partially cancelling the service between Korukkupet and Chennai Beach. Chennai Beach – Arakkonam EMU local will depart from MMC (instead of Chennai Beach) at 1.25 am on September 8. The train would be partially cancelled between Chennai Beach and Washermanpet, another statement issued by SR said.
