Couple on way to meet son killed as car rams lorry

A couple, who were travelling in a car to meet their son studying at a private college on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), was killed after their vehicle rammed a lorry near Sriperumbudur in Kancheepuram on Tuesday.

The deceased persons were identified as M Goodwin Rajkumar of Thoothukudi, who worked at a private firm in Hosur and his wife, Sophana Selvakumari (50). Their only son, who studies at a private college on OMR, was staying in Madipakkam. On Tuesday, Goodwin Rajkumar and his wife were on the way to Madipakkam in their car to meet their son.


While they were on Sriperumbudur-Tambaram Road near Pillaipakkam village, Rajkumar, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle and rammed the lorry was parked on the roadside. Due to grievous injuries, both of them died on the spot. The Sriperumbudur police who arrived at the spot retrieved the bodies and sent them for autopsy. With help of the documents found in the car, the police identified them and informed their relatives. The police have registered a case and inquiring.
