Gold bars worth Rs two crore were seized by Customs in three different cases since Sunday and five people were arrested.

Officials recovered one kg gold worth Rs 39 lakh from apassenger who arrived from Bangkok on Monday morning. When questioned, the man said thatthe gold concealed in his socks was to be handed over to a person waiting outside the airport. Both were arrested.
In the second incident, the officials recovered 2.5 kg gold worth Rs 97 lakh from a couple who arrived here from Bangkok on Monday and arrested them. The gold was concealed in their innerwear, a Customs release said.
On Sunday, the officials seized 1.64 kg gold bars worth Rs 64 lakh from a passenger hailing from Kerala who arrived from Dubai. It was hidden in a motor in his baggage.
Flights diverted from Bengaluru
Bad weather in Bengaluru forced diversion of three flights to Chennai airport on Monday. An Air India flight from Mumbai, and Indigo Airlines flights from Madurai and Kuala Lumpur were diverted to Chennai due to inclement weather in Bengaluru. Also, the three flights that were supposed to arrive from Bengaluru and two that were to depart from Chennai were also delayed.
Meanwhile, a SpiceJet flight to Bengaluru was grounded after its pilot noticed a snag minutes before it was about to take off. The 78 passengers on board were sent on another flight after a delay of more than three hours.
