National symposium held at SRMIST

KRATORQ2019, the national-level technical symposium organised recently by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) in Vadapalani, served as a platform for students to showcase their talents and interests towards various technologies, a release read.

The inaugural function of KRATORQ’19 had M Sathyanandan, general manager, Product Development - Engines, Ashok Leyland, Chennai and Prof S Sekar, Foundry engineering consultant attend as guests.


The inaugural function was presided by Dr K Duraivelu, Dean (E&T), and Dr S Karthikeyan, professor and head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, proposed the welcome address. PR Manikandan, GM-HR, SRMIST proposed the felicitation address to all the participants.


Sathyanandan delivered his address on the essential skills the present-day engineering students should develop and highlighted the importance of attitude above all skills to be a successful professional. He cited his own journey from a fresher to his current position in order to inspire the students.


The souvenir on KRATORQ’19 was released by the dignitaries. The function was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by assistant professor A Sengolerayan.


Students from various engineering colleges across country participated in various technical and non- technical events like Robo War, RC Racing, CAD Modelling, Lathe Master and Wild welder. Prizes worth Rs 1 lakh were distributed to the winners. All the participants were given certificates, the release stated.
