Gold worth Rs 14.75 L seized from plane at Chennai airport
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officers of the Customs on Sunday rummaged the Indigo flight 6E92 that had arrived from Bangkok and seized gold worth Rs 14.75 lakh.

During the search, a tube like pouch was found concealed inside the hollow pipe of the aircraft seat.
The pouch was cut open and small gold bars of 24K purity and assorted gold jewels of 14K and 18K purity studded with very small diamonds and semi-precious stones of low value, totally weighing 371 grams were found inside. They were totally valued atRs 14.75 lakh.
The passenger under whose seat it was recovered was questioned, but he refused any connection. The gold and jewels were seized under the Customs Act 1962.
