A new trend #strongGorgeouswomen, is floating on Facebook where its users start uploading their photos and tag at least 25 of their friends in the post to accept the challenge.
The users upload their photos with a caption which says, “All too often women find it easier to criticize each other instead of building each other up, with all the negativity going around, let’s do something positive. Because you are beautiful. Build yourself up instead of tearing yourself down.”
“If I tag you, don’t disappoint me, you better do it!! If I didn’t tag you, please don’t be offended,” a note stated.
“Trends like this which happens on social media sometimes make us feel light. It may be a simple thing like bottle cap challenge or the ice bucket challenge which was trending a few months ago on social media. The whole point is to bring a smile by seeing what your friends post online. The same applies for #strongGorgeouswomen. As long it is not harmful or toxic, there is nothing wrong in sharing or doing it,” said Soundarya, a social media user from Nungambakkam.
“I don’t find this challenge interesting and is not something useful. And by tagging others it is not going to bring about a change. Instead, these people can concentrate on other grave issues especially Keezhadi. They can trend such issues in my opinion rather than such challenges,” said Nivetha J from Thiruvottiyur who put forward her opinion.
