Auto driver arrested for attacking cops
A 35-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested for allegedly attacking a traffic inspector and head constable at Flower Bazaar on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened when K Murugan (35) of Korukkupet was driving near NSC Bose Road and Bundar Road junction to drop a passenger at Parry’s Corner from Korukkupet. Head constable Lourd Xavier attached to Elephant Gate traffic enforcement tried to stop him for violating one-way traffic.
When Murugan ignored him and went further, the policeman chased and stopped him. Police alleged Murugan was drunk and manhandled the head constable. When inspector Sargunam who came to the spot tried to intervene, Murugan started attacking him, too.
The police took him in custody and booked him for assaulting government servants and preventing them from discharging their duties.
